Most of us at some point have debated with our friends as to the best ways of getting rid of unwanted hair. Whether your personal favourite is shaving, waxing or plucking away at hair, it is likely that you have not found a method which is 100% perfect. They all are either painful, messy or time consuming.
The other serious alternative to these, other than allowing the hair to grow of course, (an alternative rarely discussed!) is to use a variety of laser hair removal or IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) system. These more often than not are the sole domain of commercial beauty salons and luxurious health spas. It is frequent visits to these establishments which result in permanent hair removal which starts with hair regrowth slowing down and becoming sparser as treatments progress.
The downside to these types of treatment of course is the expense and hassle of visiting the salon or spa when all you need is to be looking good that Friday or Saturday night. There are far more important things to do last minute (as it always seem to be) like choosing and buying a new outfit, getting your hair done and squeezing in some quality bathroom time in which a quick shave of the legs will have to do! The likelihood of cramming a quick visit to the beauty clinic is hardly on the cards when life reaches it’s most hectic points.
There are alternatives becoming available to the mass population in terms of at home laser hair removal systems and more recently even IPL hair removal systems. Still requiring a modicum of foresight however, over time these at home salon experiences mean that you can fit in serious hair removal sessions without the hassle, expense and sometimes self-conscious visits to the local clinic.
It is of course a balance as these devices can be expensive to buy upfront, but the cost savings within the course of just one year will pay for even the most expensive options easily. What’s more, the level of the technology has become so much better, that it is now perfectly reasonable to find that some home based systems, (such as the Silk’n hair removal system) can provide an improved result on previous salon treatments – especially compared to salons not investing heavily in the latest equipment.
The very latest incarnation of hair removal products which acts in a similar way to IPL and laser therapies is the No! No! hair removal system. There have been some very positive reports on this innovative technology which uses light and Thermicon technology to kill hairs permanently. Used once a week, it is understood that hairs grow back significantly less frequently and much more sparsely. Making subsequent waxing, plucking and shaving easier, quicker and less painful.
So the quick fixes of the past whether it be waxing, something I personally have never been able to enjoy, plucking (who has the time?) and shaving are getting a run for the money. It is likely that a combination of shaving and more permanent solutions such IPL will become more commonplace as more people enjoy the home laser systems in conjunction with old standing favourites.
